Artifacts

Click on the link above to see one of the books I have written. In this writing I question the purpose and function of art, as well as what art means for the viewer.

Richard Wagner's Lohengrin
This is part of one of the most fantastic pieces of music! I love listening to this song as I paint. I find it very inspiring!

Compositions
This link will take you to a gallery of all the paintings in my series of Compositions. These are the paintings I painted to music.

This is the painting Haystacks at Giverny by Claude Monet. The impressionism in this painting really struck me and is one of the reasons I began as an artist.

This is another book that I wrote. This book is about the elements of point and line used as an expressive "language" vs. objective art.

This is the Bauhaus School of Art and Design in Germany, where I worked and taught for many years.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. This museum in New York City holds the largest collection of my paintings.

This is a photo of myself, taken from around the time I first started working at the Bauhaus in Germany.

This is a photo of me with my painting Dominant Circle in 1936.

  1. I was looking at your second artifact and I am amazed by the blend of your colors. It is such a distinct image, yet warm and comforting. You should be very proud of your accomplishments!

  2. I was looking at your self portrait, and i noticed we have a lot of similarities. We are both artist but our styles are somewhat different. We even have similar self portraits (our side profiles). Ill look into your work more, maybe we can get together one day and have lunch over our works.

  5. Wow such an adept blend of colors and shapes! Absolutely wonderful. I think this is a very intense form of art and I almost could see it acted out as a intense, African dance.

  6. I adored your painting Haystacks, that I saw above. The colors really complemented each other and the blending was impeccably heart-stopping. I couldn't help but stare at the painting in awe. Not only that but I love how you chose such a simple idea and turned it into something so beautifully intricate and complex. Amazing work!
